SO YOU KNOW If an active shooter is in your vicinity, it is important to form an evacuation plan, leaving your belongings behind and keeping hands visible. If you are unable to evacuate, hiding out of sight is the next best option, blocking entry into the hiding place and silencing anything that could make noise, like a cell phone. As a last resort, it could be necessary to react and attempt to incapacitate the shooter. More information can be found at www.dhs.gov/active-shooter-preparedness.
